  23. European Immunization Week (EIW) will take place this year 24-30 April 2017. The WHO Regional Office for Europe is proud to kick off preparations for the week with the following information and resources. The theme for both European Immunization Week and World Immunization Week will be: “Vaccines work”. With immunization coverage rates stalled or falling in some countries and vaccine-preventable diseases continuing to impact the lives of young and old, there is no better time to focus on the importance of immunization to protect health at every stage in life. The following products focused on this theme are under development and will be available on the Forum and the WHO/Europe website (www.euro.who.int/eiw2017) in the coming weeks: • communication toolkit with key messages • posters and other graphics • set of brochures on vaccination in each stage of life • social media package - suggested posts and graphics based on the key messages. During EIW, the Regional Office will launch: • personal stories that underline the importance of immunization at all stages of life; • the first issue of a new Epi-brief series; • the first in a series of podcasts: “the story of measles and rubella elimination in Europe”, as told by leading scientists and public health experts. WHO encourages active participation in the campaign. Please post your ideas and plans on this Forum and/or contact the EIW team (eueiw@who.int) for more information. For information on World Immunization Week, see: http://www.who.int/campaigns/immunization-week/2017/event/en/ We look forward to working with you to make EIW 2017 a great success!
  24. Dear all, We (@VaccinesToday) are preparing our plan for EIW2017. We hope to launch the first in a series of animated videos about life-long immunisation. The preliminary idea - which we will begin developing this month - is to introduce the public to a family and then to have individual 'episodes' to explain some of the vaccine-preventable diseases that affect each. This will also give us a chance to show how protecting one family member from infection could help protect others. What are you planning? Are there any events (online or offline) or new material (videos, infographics) that you plan to launch? Please let us know and we will be happy to promote/share through our channels.
